2005 T2WEnd1
the first weekend of the 2nd term, and it's somehow a long one with the good friday holiday... i don't really have a very good time this weekend, coz got quite a nubmer of homework to finish, including mrp... luckily i'm done with the proposal, waiting for a time to meet up with mentor to discuss a few issues while i continue to work on my lit review... i did my proposal for mrp last week and boy was it a very tedious task... at first i thought that i might not be able to reach the word limit of 500 words... with the penalty at hand, i did not really care about how much i wrote and later i got a proposal that was about 750 words long! i had to cut off some details in the proposal and may be shifted to the lit review if necessary so as to reduce the nubmer of words in my proposal... man, it was tough and i had to think carefully before omitting some of the words... enough of mrp, i have to complete the lit review by this week and make up some time to discuss with mentor before the deadline on 31 march... about the homework for this weekend, tons... maths, english, ihc, bio, chem, physics... although some of them are not required to hand in on monday when we get back to school, but i always do them early so that i do not have to rush on the last minute... however, there are a few questions i do not know how to do and i think i will copy from my friends in the morning on the day of submission... i don't think will be copying compre answers from classmates, coz i don't do that and i think it's not fair by copying compre answers... other assignments may be more suitable for this method, but not for english compre... tuesday is going to be the full-dress rehearsal for syf... the list of performers should have been confirmed, coz i wasn't around on tuesday for the first 20 minutes where they might have announced the actual list of people participating... back to the same singapore conference hall... (for those chinese orch lovers, it's the home of the singapore chinese orchestra) the full-dress rehearsal shouldn't be much of a problem, but i haven't told the teachers that i have to leave early at 12 pm, especially chemistry teacher... i dunno whether she will be mad at me or not, but confirm is that she will not be very happy if i tell her on monday coz it's only a day in advance... nevertheless, i think i will fight back by telling her that she should have known about the matter unless she does not regularly check the emb or skip messages that seem to be irrelevant but important...another problem is that the lessons that i'm going to miss are practical sessions which i have to take some time to replace the lesson... this might not be good, but it has to be like that... pic of the day: another waterfall...

2005 T2W1
it's only the very first week of the new term and i'm already started to feel very tired right now... dunno whether not enough sleep or what... wait a minute, i sleep relatively early every day this week (10:30 pm should be considered qutie early...) i suppose it's the school work that is making me so tired... 太累了,精神不太好,常常想打瞌睡…… school work 这么多,我竟一句怨言也没有……i think i'm already very used to the current hectic lifestyle... maybe becoz need to pia mrp, coz next thur is the deadline, and i have not completed my lit review! juz finished the proposal not long ago, going to show mentor by tomorrow so that she can give me any comments on the proposal... then i think i should just concentrate on the lit review right now, coz it'll take a lot of time and i' not sure whether i have the time to finish it in order to show my mentor... (even though this friday is good friday, but i don't think it's going to be good enough for me to complete my lit review since teachers always favour holidays as rare "give-the-homework sessions"...) syf central judging is getting very close, but still dunno the date yet... should be around 25 to 30 april like that, but speculations say that it will happen a week be4 that... no matter what, there will be evening practices (should i call it late afternoon since it starts at 5 pm?) on wed and thur... tue is full-dress rehearsal, need to bring all the "black stuff" (black shirt, black pants, black shoes, black socks, and no black... silver tie) luckily can skip chem and physics prac, but i wonder whether izzit a good thing or not -_-" nevertheless, it's going to be a very tiring start of the new term... last term's progress report has been reprinted... the previous one does not show ace points... when i looked at it, i was shocked to see some subjects with oral marks given to me even though i don't really speak in class... man, i have just won a few marks all purely by luck... but ace points still got quite a number of zeros (it should be quite common since the teachers are complaining to us that we are not doing our ace stuff...) tomorrow is level assembly, class performance.... :S man, i don't really want this stupid music appreciation thing... don't really do much about it other than rehearsing for your own performance or taking a quick nap during others' performance... i suppose the whole class is going up on stage to sing a very stupid song with a very stupid tone on a very stupid occassion... from what i know, the briefing for the combinations of a level subjects next year is going to be held tomorrow... can't wait to find out more about it... pic of the day: a waterfall under rain and snow...

Founder's Day 2005 (or is it Finder's Day)
today is founder's day... but i don't really think it's just founder's day... it may be regarded as finder's day, finding people to give money to, which i think is a total waste of money and resources and total waste of talent not explored... take the prize giving ceremony today, tell me, who on earth in the audience is proud of the prize winners other than the principal, teachers and parents... i can tell you now that it was a great hypnotizing session for me as i quietly meditate at my seat with some hummings of my favourite songs for about 2 hours listening to the audience chit-chatting all the way during the whole procedure... well, you may think that the audience should not behave like that... but have anyone ever thought the feelings of the audience when they had to pull through 2 tough hours doing nothing other than clapping and congradulating the prize winners... seriously speaking, i don't see any meaning in the prizes given out today... can anyone tell me which successful businessman receive many prestigious awards from their school when they were young? practically none, all with education levels that are not very high, some may have their "O" level certificates rotting at their storerooms, or even a PSLE (primary school leaving examination) result slip that may be found in the landfills... i don't see any practical meaning to those awards and 我不稀罕! i don't care about the prizes, what's the point of them?! enough about throwing my tanturms... something which may cause a volcano in me to explode... the start of the new term, and I DON'T EVEN KNOW THE TIMETABLE!!! well, it may not be the form teacher's fault, but just got news recently that there would be chemistry and physics practical tomorrow... now what is this? two practicals in a miserable day, and you are expecting us as students to be able to cope that? DREAM ON! we are not robots, we are humans, we do get tired, we do need rest, even robots need rest and recharge of energy before continuing their chores... i wonder how the person planning the timetable is thinking... trying to put us into such tremor... i don't think i would have a very nice day ahead... damn...... pic of the day: tree silhouette straight into the sun, deprived of the brightness...

T1 Holidays 2005
it's been a very long time since i have updated this blog... it has been really too busy right now, even though it's already the holidays (well, only for a week...) still have plenty of work to do during this short and hectic holidays... schedule for the week has already been filled up very quickly... last week was the sabbaticals week, i took bioinformatics. it was quite enjoyable coz got time to touch the com and surf the net for a while when not being noticed... but i learnt qutie a lot about bioinformatics, using the com to search for the corresponding dna sequence and its origin, as well as translating a dna sequence into a protein sequence... the practicals were also qutie interesting, although time spent on the practicals was not a lot... i like the practicals on the agarose gel electrophoresis and sds-page (sodium dodecylsulphate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis), lookign at the dna molecules and protein molecules separate into clear bands on the gels... well, this holiday is really a nightmare for me... last year it wasn't that bad, but this eyar was horrible... out of the 5 weekdays, i have to go back to school for 4 of them... the only day i'm left at home is today, which i spent most of the time completing holdiay homework... tomorrow still have string orch rehearsal, coz syf is getting closer and must rehearse more to get more familiar with the chosen pieces (we are already very familiar with the pieces...) wednesday is going to be boring, early in the morning chem practical, then english lesson where we will go through assignment and test, then maths lesson where we will reinforce what we have learnt during the past term... damn, i think i should get more rest so that i will be able to pull through this hectic week... pic of the day: iceland, the blue lagoon

term 1 has been a very busy and miserable term, as many events happened during this time... academically wise, i think my class did not do very well this term, coz of many unforeseen circumstances (if there is any over-generalization, my apologies)... chem test freak out, maths tests also freak out... damn, i should have gotten a1 for maths if i would have done some of the questions with more care... no point raking about the past, looking back at term 1, it's still quite an eventful term... highlight of the term: aphelion nite... every year, i always enjoyed aphelion nite... only this time i can sleep at what time i want to, of course not being noticed by the teachers patrolling the area... i'm still wondering why i did not get a sore throat after much shouting and cheering and signing along with the performances... maybe it cannot be explained scientifically... anywayz, aphelion nite was quite fun, except the first part where the aphelion council investiture was held, and boy how boring was it... the fun part came after that boring section of the night... the fun part was much the same throughout the years, and how i hate the mr. aphelion competition... always have performances which i nearly felt like puking, but this time round wasn't so bad, but someone just wanted to be 欧得洋, but became 呕得痒... the class performances were qutie interesting and i really enjoyed them... now i just hope that next term will be a better one, although still need to rush to complete mrp proposal and lit review by end of this month... pic of the day: boston evening skyline
